Equipment:
All members should be issued the following equipment by the department: headstall, breast collar, candlebag, neck rope, ball cap, summer hat, boots, uniform shirt and pants, saddle blanket cover, badge and other uniform silver.
Members must provide: duty belt, holster, etc., horse, weapon, transportation, saddle blanket, and saddle.
All members should make sure they have the above equipment.
Alan and Sgt. Justice will do an inventory of equipment in the equipment room and explore alternative storage options.
There was some discussion about the type of weapon the mounted patrol was to carry and several members were in agreement that in a parade situation a revolver is a better presentation but not all members own a revolver and the reserve officers would be required to purchase a 2nd weapon. Sgt. Justice will discuss this further with the Sheriff and look into some other options.
Events:
In order to give a good presentation we should have at least 5 members at each parade event.
Last year's events were reviewed; Wayne County Fair, Gus Macker Tournament, Cambridge Canal Days, Centerville Parade, Fountain City Levi Coffin days
Rudy mentioned several group events such as a Christmas party, cookouts, etc. that were done when the unit was larger.
The Rose Festival will be June 22nd. Application must be turned in by April 17th.
The Centerville Parade is usually around the 1st of June.
Some interest was expressed in being in the McMaze and Alan will discuss this with the Doughertys.
Membership:
Sgt. Justice expressed concerns about the small membership and his desire to see the unit continue. He has sent letters to the equestrian clubs in the area and so far has not gotten a response.
Sgt. Justice will be looking into ads in local papers and the membership may pursue more visibility at events such as the county fair.
Rumors of a city mounted patrol and a possible joint effort with them were discussed.

It has been decided we would use a wagon instead of bags for “fertilizer control”.

Bill Bailey has a tractor and Sgt. Justice has a wagon for “fertilizer control”; volunteers from BSA Troop 117 may be available to shovel.
The unit will purchase bags for fertilizer control on a test basis.

People in the unit have expressed an interest in doing additional details (assisting road officers with extra details such as plane crashes, etc.) and Sgt. Justice said he did not think that would be a problem and we should watch for such events and bring them to the Unit’s attention.

Sgt. Justice will check with the Sheriff about doing nuisance training at the range and incorporate shooting with our training.
