For the good of the order: Jason Gibson has been approved by majority vote to the UVSU.  Welcome Jason!!!!!!!!!!!!

The use of the F.O.P range by the Reserves has been approved under the following conditions:

~Sign out the key from the jail

~Clean up all brass and trash before you leave

~Lock the gate when you leave

~As an additional qualifier, you should be accompanied by another Reserve or

Enforcement Officer, this was a good safety rule in the past that should be

carried forward.  A firm decision on this point will be clarified.

No copies of the gate key are to be made, if you have a copy it needs

to be turned in to Sergeant Moore or Captain Daggy.

BDUs are being offered to the Reserves, the cost with web gear would be approximately $200.00.  The BDUs can be worn on certain details such as Jail or The County Fair.  Let one of the officers know if you are interested, keep in mind A dress uniform still will need to be maintained for other duties.

The Mounted Patrol has been approved for Community Policing in Downtown Richmond, this should be in place by early May.  A sign up schedule will follow in the near future.

Treasurer’s Report:  Checking: $660.18; Savings $1,438.91

Training:

Firearms October 26th & 27th, 9:00-14:00, 15:00 20:00

Defensive tactics part two September 14th (Lieberman) and 15th (Retter).  Times are 15:30-17:30, 18:30-20:30, and 21:00-23:00 in the training room at the Sheriff’s Department.  If you intend to attend one of these let Sgt. Davis know.

Nothing has been done about IDACs (re)certification

We will try to schedule baton training for the next meeting (September 28th)

Bloodbourne pathogens will be given at the October meeting

First Aid will either be some time in October or some time during meetings next year.

Details:

Reference Detail Sheet passed around during meeting or check web site

The Fountain City Parade is September 18th.  We need to be ready to ride at 10:00 for an 11:00 parade  Corp. McGuire will talk to Jim Osterman about parking where we usually do south of town.

For the good of the order:

Several members need ID cards.  Jim Haskins, Pam Colvin, and Bob Juday have had their pictures taken but do not have their cards.  Doug Snyder, Russel Bertsch, Jeff McDaniel, and Erin Bailey have not had their pictures taken yet.

Classifications regarding reserves working in the jail will be implemented some time in the near future.  The FTO training program will be similar in nature but probably less hours.

Cameron Cox was accepted into the unit unanimously.

Jessica McDaniels submitted an application for the Mounted Patrol but was not at the meeting.

The gun buyback will probably be in the next few weeks.

The issue of borrowing cars from officers came up.  Several merit officers have said they will not let anyone borrow their car.  However, there are two pool cars now and soon to be a third.  The procedure of checking a car out is the same; there is a board with the keys on it along with the clipboard in the garage, and your key will get you in the garage.  There is no smoking in any of the cars.

If you are going to use a car for a detail be sure it is authorized through the web page.

Training:

Firearms October 26th & 27th, 9:00-14:00, 15:00-20:00

Nothing has been done about IDACs (re)certification but they will be working on it.

Baton training was completed and will not be offered again until next year.

Bloodbourne pathogens will not be given at a meeting because the class is now going to be a 6-8 hour class and will be presented before the end of the year.  Everyone must attend this class.

First Aid will be some time next year.

Police Prosecutor Update #154 was reviewed.

Details:

Reference Detail Sheet passed around during meeting or check web site

Any detail requests from the Centerville Police Department should go through Capt. Daggy.

If you are signed up to work a detail and are working it alone you must get approval from Sgt. Moore or Capt. Daggy.  This includes road patrol.

For the good of the order:

Anyone who does not have an ID card should call the jail and schedule a time when Jeff Lamberson is working and make arrangements with him.

The gun buyback is scheduled for October 15/16.

The third pool car is now in service.  Two of the cars (the ones with antennas behind the light bars) have MODEMs in them.

Sandy McDaniel was present and interviewed.  Her background check is not complete so the vote will be tabled until next week.

Members were reminded not to display their ID and represent themselves as police officers when they are not on a detail that they have been authorized to work.

Treasurer’s Report:  Checking: $1021.83; Savings $940.34, $250 from Mr. Stanley and $80 cash from Janice Strain for the Mounted Patrol.  Letter of thanks were written.

Sheriff’s Report:

The department is in the process of hiring more officers.  The written and agility tests have been completed, the background checks are next.

There is also a Sergeant’s process going on right now.  A new Sergeant should be promoted by the first of the year.

Shift coverage is thin due to people being off.

Civil Process is backed up, any help there is appreciated.

The jail is in a hiring process for 2 officers.

Training:

October Firearms cancelled, December 7th and 8th is the next one.

Bloodbourne pathogens will probably be in December.

First Aid will be some time next year.

Details:

We have been invited to the Main Street Parade December 4th at 11:00.  Be ready to leave from the Sheriff’s Dept. at 10:30.

Reference Detail Sheet passed around during meeting or check web site

For the good of the order:

The gun buyback is scheduled for November 3rd from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.  Those affected should have gotten a letter regarding this.

Any time Reserve officers are on patrol and respond to a call, whether dispatched or self-initiated, brief CAD entries should be made that explain the call.  In the case of traffic stops, the reason for the stop and action taken must be noted.  On other calls, who was involved and action taken must be noted.  The CAD entries should be brief.

Vehicle work orders are in the squad room.  If a pool car need attention fill out a work order, make a copy, and put both in Alan’s mailbox.  If you use any car you should leave it clean and full of gas.  If you use a pool car you should also check the paperwork to be sure there are enough copies of everything in the file box.

Sandy McDaniel; vote motioned by Carl, 2nded by Mike Davis, accepted unanimously

Stephen Tate was at the meeting and introduced himself.  He will be voted on at the next meeting

David Brown was at the meeting and introduced himself.  His background check will be started and we should be able to vote on him at the next meeting.

Christmas dinner – Welliver’s 1st , Forest Hills Country Club, Underground, Golden Corral,  December 4th at 6:30 or so.  We might take Welliver’s on a week night over somewhere else on a weekend.
