Sheriff’s Report:

The Sheriff attended the meeting and spoke about the benefits of DMS. He also talked about unifying the department and presenting a uniform professional presence.

Equipment:

Mike Davis checked and the department will not provide batons to reserves. If a reserve gets a baton it must be of the same type that the rest of the department carries.

Alan asked Mike Davis to be sure and have notepads to hand out to everyone at the next meeting so we are sure everyone has a few. He should either get them from Quartermaster or get with Bob McGuire and purchase some.

Training:

Several people have been assigned training in PowerDMS and need to finish it. Bill Bailey and Bob Jackson completed the Human Trafficking course on PowerDMS after the meeting.

People should review their training from the link on the UVSU page and contact Alan ASAP if anything is missing.

The firearms qualifications schedule as not been posted yet. Officers are reminded that if they cannot make a firearms training for any reason they need to write a letter to the firearms instructor to arrange for an excuse or alternate training.

Training on offender checks were given by Jason Moore after the meeting.

The yearly mandatory training has been scheduled, and everyone should arrange transportation with others going on the same day. More information about the exact locations of the training will be put out.

Training on handcuffing uncooperative people was done after the meeting.

Everyone should review their work hours on the UVSU page to verify that they are accurate.

The Northeastern Basketball games have been posted

Jason Moore will leave a packet of offender checks in the reserve mailbox. Most of these will be due in February if not before.

If people want to serve warrants or do offender checks they should create details and do so.

Several policies have been distributed in PowerDMS. Some people have not looked at or signed any of these polices. Everyone needs to pay attention to the notifications they get from DMS and sign on to complete assigned tasks, as doing so is a condition of being a reserve.

Sheriff’s Report:

Major Frame attended the meeting. There will be another inventory that needs to be done by the end of the month. The quartermaster is now in the process of being re-inventoried. The new cars are coming out and are a new style and color – they are white chargers. More help is always appreciated at the courthouse and serving civil papers. You are also welcome to work at the jail. Tyler Marsh is a new merit patrolman. He was a Henry County Reserve and will be going to the academy in April. Doug Eliason will be out of the academy in March.

There will also be a jail process coming around, people should watch the web site if they are interested in applying.

Equipment:

As pointed out above, an equipment inventory will be done by the end of the month.

Training:

Firearms schedule is not out yet

3 ethics scenarios were presented for discussion after the meeting.

Mike Frame is going to the mandated training on the 4^th at 3:30 and has room for 2 people.

There was limited success with warrant service and the offender checks. The time was cut short due to officers helping with the semi crash on I-70.

SD tags need to be replaced with ones that are all the same size

Rodney and Wendy’s shirts have too much green in them and need to be replaced. Wendy needs different arm patches.

Alan will speak with the sheriff about pocket flaps. This is mandated in a county ordinance so in order to do away with pocket flaps the ordinance will have to be modified.

EVO is September 24^th and 25^th. Everyone should plan on meeting at the airport at 7:00 and staying until 9:00 for a meeting/training. If you can't make it on the 24^th let Alan know and there will be training on the 25^th as well.

Evidence training will be provided October 1th from 4:00-6:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm and November 8^th 10:00-Noon. Any Deputy who is or wants to be first or second class must attend one of these courses.

The Sheriff will be auditing DMS next week to be sure that everyone has read the policies and signed off on them. It is likely that there will be disciplinary action against anyone that has not signed the policies.

Sheriff’s Report:

CALEA Assessors came Sunday and left this afternoon. The final decision will not be made until March. Assessors were generally favorable.

Equipment:

Artie Taylor is turned in a request for boots but apparently it has been misplaced

Some of the saddle pads are worn and need to be cleaned up/repaired. There is also some other tack that could be repaired. Bob will see about taking it up to Lapps for repair.

Training:

The remaining firearms training is Dec 17–18. If you have not completed an ILEA course this year you need to get with Jason Moore.

Anyone who has not watched the CALEA videos (both DMS and Jason’s presentation) needs to do so ASAP.
