About the Wayne County Treasurer's Office
The Wayne County Treasurer oversees the collection of property taxes and delinquent property taxes, serves as the county’s banker, safeguards all tax revenues, and responsibly invests local funds on behalf of the county. The dollars we collect fuel the things that keep Wayne County running: schools, libraries, safe roads, public safety, parks, and much more. We’re a team of five here to serve our neighbors with accuracy, accountability, and care.
- Collecting property taxes – Including real estate, personal property, and mobile homes as well as innkeeper’s tax, we process nearly 40,000 parcels each year for Wayne County.
- Takes in county money – All county revenue flows through our office.
- Invest for the future – With taxes being collected twice a year, we manage tax dollars wisely, investing them safely until they’re needed, all while earning interest.
- Distribute funds – Working closely with the Auditor, we send money to schools, towns, townships, and other county units.
- Issue Mobile Home Permits - When provided with the mobile home title, we are able to provide a Mobile Home Title Transfer Permit and a Mobile Home Moving Permit.
- Alcohol Permits - When renewing, transferring, or getting a new Alcohol Permit/ Clearance, our office must confirm you have no unpaid property taxes using Form No. 1.
