The duties of the Auditor's office range from simple secretarial tasks such as keeping minutes of the various board meetings to the highly technical duties of financial statement preparation and compliance with federal tax guidelines and programs. The office of County Auditor has evolved dramatically from a bookkeeper and part-time secretary to a financial manager whose responsibilities impact the financial well-being of county government.

The Auditor's Office is responsible for maintaining the Plat room. Staff from the Plat room provided the following mission statement:
"Our mission is to ensure the accurate, lawful, and timely transfer of property ownership and maintain accessible and comprehensive public records with integrity and transparancy. Taxpayers, attorneys, abstractors, realtors, and government officials alike can rely on our records and we promise to serve the public with accuracy and reliabilty and assist with researching and resolving any issues that may arise."
